Minister Mihajlović announced the drafting of a new law on renewable energy sources

The Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Zorana Mihajlović, talked today with the manager of the American company Bechtel for Europe, Chris Jenions, about the possibilities of cooperation in the field of energy, with special reference to renewable energy sources and green energy.

At the meeting, which was also attended by the US Ambassador to Belgrade, Anthony Godfrey, Mihajlovic said that Serbia was "very satisfied with the cooperation it had with Bechtel, one of the world's best companies," the ministry headed by her said.

"I believe that the excellent cooperation we had in construction and infrastructure can be transferred to the energy sector, given the vast experience that Bechtel has in this area. For us, green energy, as the basis for the development of the green economy, and renewable energy sources are extremely important, "said Mihajlović.

Janions reportedly expressed interest in co-operation between the two sides in the energy sector.

"Our company implements large energy projects around the world, especially when it comes to hydropower, wind farms and solar energy. We believe that the future lies in renewable energy sources and we are interested in transferring our expertise to Serbia as well, "said Jenions.

Mihajlovic said that her Ministry will start drafting a new law on renewable energy sources and amending key laws in mining and energy, it is added in the announcement.
